What do you use in an espresso machine?

Obviously espresso, but I don't know what to buy. I have been meaning to buy an espresso machine so I can quit spending so much money at Starbucks, but I keep putting it off because I don't know how to buy espresso. I know I'm making this a whole lot harder than it needs to be 🤦‍♀️ but help?
Could you maybe post a picture of what you use?

Espresso is, by definition, finely ground coffee.￼ generally, it is also ￼￼a bold (dark) roast. So this means you can go buy any whole bean coffee that you like (dark roast or not, I prefer lighter roast myself) and grind it very finely… Then you have espresso!
As a sidenote, if you like Starbucks coffee. You can buy a bag of their coffee and ask an employee￼ to grind it on their espresso/fine setting. They grind it and you take it home.￼

You can go to a store where they sell whole coffee beans and do an espresso ground. I believe it’s just more finely ground coffee.

You use coffee beans, but you need to grind them into a fine grind. A lot of stores will have grinders you can use. Or you can buy one and grind it yourself.

Id say first it depends what machine you buy. You could get Nespresso. Or you could get machine tht requires pods, others you grind and tamp it into a disc.

Any espresso roast would work, which means its darkly roasted and more finely ground than drip coffee. I like Cafe Bustelo in the red and yellow can. It's cheap but its actually really good.  
If you want to grind your own I suggest getting a burr grinder
