MIL knows best

Just sent my MIL a photo of my son pulling himself up to stand in his crib. (First time. I was standing right there to guide him) Anyway, a new milestone! So I took a pic with the caption: Time to lower the mattress! and sent it to a few people who I thought might enjoy it.

Oh no but not my MIL. She wrote back, “Omg lower that mattress immediately!” I interpreted that as an aggressive message because I had already written in the caption of the photo that I was going to lower the mattress. And then she proceeded to tell me that I should be careful of his well-being because his brain is working faster than his body can move.

Like, woman. Just enjoy the damn photo. I know how to take care of my son, I wasn’t going to just leave him to topple over while I do a shot and laugh at his struggles.

Forgot to mention: Sent this photo to my mother as well. She replies, Oh hunny, you’re teaching your son so well! He’s getting so big and strong!

Why can’t my MIL be as encouraging? I think it’s important to remember to uplift the mother than make her feel like she is not aware of her son...? I know that wasn’t my MIL intentions because she later wrote me back, that she is sure I am taking good care of my baby but nevertheless, why say it? Just enjoy the photo! That’s why I sent it to her!
