Is a presidents health an important issue for you?

Since President Trump is calling for drug tests ahead of the debate I thought I’d see where everyone lies on this issue. Is a presidents overall health important to you? Or do you think releasing that sort of information to the public would do more harm than good and just be used as ammo by either candidate and/or the media? Or would you be for something in the middle (ex. Jimmy Carter once proposed an independent panel be made up to assess any candidates ability to serve?)

I think it comes down to their ability to abide by the law, if they come up positive for illegal substances it shows a lack of respect for laws they are arguing on or vowing to uphold. (And trust me I’m not in denial of the fact that many people in positions of power so drugs). 
As far as general health, if they are mentally/physically unfit for office I think that should be known, but hard to draw a line for that.

I mean I think people are owed privacy when it comes to their bodies. I don’t think whoever serves as president is any different. That being said, I recognize someone who is on the brink of mental derangement or similar diminished capacity is not suitable to lead the country. My opinion is that I’m embarrassed that my only two real options are not great.. especially considering the amount of intellectually brilliant people in the US.

No I don't think health concerns are an issue that's also why we have vice presidents (and a whole line up of people to take control if necessary). I wouldn't care about what drugs are in a candidates system legal or not. Funny that Trump pushes for personal shit like that but won't provide his own DNA when it comes to legal cases that would prove his "innocence" or when he refuses to release tax information. Both of which I feel are more important and telling for political candidates than a drug test.

yes for sure. they should both take a drug test. we deserve to know if there is a big health or mental issue.

Mental health, yes. You need to have a clear mind. Physical health, not so much. Unless they have something that incapacitates them, things like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, etc. shouldn’t impair someone’s ability to be a president.

No, I believe it’s an invasion of privacy and could be discriminatory.

It is important because the president holds the highest office. So they need to be able to do their job. 
That being said everyone has the right to privacy regarding their health. Anyone can become ill unexpectedly. That is why we have procedures in place in case a president dies or becomes unable fulfill their duties. 
Right now both the major candidates seem to be in poor health but that is who we have running.

It's irrelevant. There are stage 4 cancer patients walking around going to work, taking care of kids, etc on all kinds of meds yet they function. Poor health doesn't equivalate productivity because it varies on an individual level. 
This man is a spoiled toddler with launch codes doing all he can to keep his way.

I would be for a neutral panel of physicians doing a physical/mental/cognitive assessment. I don't believe the people need to know anything other than healthy or no. Same with any other job that requires medical clearance to do it. An assessment should happen but medical privacy still exists. Presidents having a personal chosen doctor doing it to me is an issue though. Trumps doctor is the perfect example of why it should not be a doctor picked by the president.  He called trump the "healthiest man alive" ...trump support or not it is clear to see that is not true. He may not have any large medical issues (he may but we won't know) but he is overweight, doesn't exercise, eats junk food, drinks diet coke, and seems to be personally offended by produce. He is not the healthiest man alive...anyone can see that. A neutral non partisan doctor would not have went along with that assessment. If police, pilots, firemen, military, ect need a physical/cognitive assessment to be allowed to do a job why not the commander in chief of the usa.

I think it is important to a certain extent. You need to be able to think critically )of course their are more skills needed) but I think Trumps the best option between the two both arent great.
