should i feel insecure

my boyfriend was explaining a story to his buddy where he bumped into an old girl friend (they talked at one point, went to a dance, etc) and the buddy asked my boyfriend “wait isn’t she the insanely hot one? (looks at me and asks) can he answer honestly?” of course i shrugged and said he can do whatever he wants. well my boyfriend is grinning and laughing nervously, hesitating to answer the question. after a few moments my boyfriend goes “not as hot as you”. i understand you can think someone is attractive and it’s fine so long as you don’t act on the attraction, but at that point i was a little hurt. it took him that long to come up with something other than an honest, straightforward answer.

i’m not making it a big deal i’m just seeing if anyone can relate and if i should feel self conscious now or not.
