Have you ever lended money to a friend?

My friend is newly pregnant and struggling to pay for simple things like food, and gas. She has an apartment as well. I also have rent to pay, groceries to buy and i have a son myself. I dont have much to offer, and if i did lend any, i wouldnt expect anything in return, just from kindness. She said she would pay me back on thursday, but again, i dont expect anything. Not because i dont think she would, but because i would just want to do her a favor. Shes never asked before. Just curious to see if anyones ever done this, and how it went. Im still thinking about if im going to. And dont even know how much she needs or if i will even be able to help
