I went to the park because I was really upset

I was very upset and wanted to go to this park I haven’t been to yet. I just moved and have been passing this park everyday and thinking about going so I went.

I needed a quiet place to cool down so I just went and sat on a bench to breathe and just try and forget about everything. Very few people were there walking or jogging.

A lady came up to me with tears in her eyes and was speaking so fast and quiet I couldn’t really understand and I thought she was needing something like she worried me so I said “wait hang on I can’t understand.” And she took a breath and said “I’m sorry. You look like my daughter it’s near incredible.” And told me she saw me and just started walking towards me and the closer she got the more she expected to see that it wasn’t her daughter but instead the closer she got the more I looked like her. She couldn’t stop herself from coming up to me, and apologized for it.

Then she told me she lost her daughter two years ago and that’s why she was crying. She obviously felt very awkward so she pulled out a photo.

It was so… there’s just no way we don’t have blood relation so I asked her about family names and no, we aren’t related but oh my god. I was expecting to see someone who kinda resembled me but no. “Near incredible” is right.

I’ve actually done something similar with a friend I had lost where I saw someone who resembled him and it freaked me out so I just stared at this poor guy who looked like my friend and I think I freaked him out and he walked away super fast.

So I understood what had happened and hugged her and we sat on the bench and talked for two hours. I vented to her about my life and she gave me advice. Said she goes to the park every week to walk.

I’m glad I went to the park. She was a complete stranger put took my mind off of my current heart break and we made a connection.
