Was I wrong for this?

My boyfriend is 24, we have been together for 9 years. He’s never had a job. He is working towards getting his license. Today his dad asked me if I was adding him to my car insurance. I told him sure but that no one told me I would be doing that. In other words I have to pay for his car insurance which is going to be expensive. I already Pay for all his food, groceries he needs etc. I don’t have any money leftover to save. Was I wrong for saying that to his dad?
