How to balance childcare and house renovations

My husband and I bought a house and it needs some work before we can move into it. It’s from the 70’s and my husband can DIY most repairs but he needs time to do it. We have a 1 year old and I’m a stay at home mom. My husband leaves for work at 6am and usually comes home at 4pm, at which point he basically takes over baby care and I can cook dinner, clean up, get ready for the next day, etc. Our baby goes to bed at 715/730pm and then we both have free time til we go to bed around 10pm.

We brought only the bare necessities to the new house (air mattress, pack n play, a few bowls and 1 pot, that kind of stuff) because we’re going to have the floors re-done and the interior painted (doing that ourselves). My issue is that we can’t find time for my husband to actually do the work besides the weekend when his parents come over and babysit our son and help work on the house. I don’t know what to do and I think I’m missing some easy solution. The options as I see it are 1- I just stay home and take care of our baby from 6am til bedtime and do it all myself. This is fine but obviously exhausting, but tons of single parents are doing this so it shouldn’t be impossible, 2- we can stay in the new house so we can work after we put our son to bed, but it’s super inconvenient to live in a house with hardly anything in it.

I think I just need some motivation or clarity on what would be the least annoying option here. I hate carting our baby between the houses, it’s a 30 minute drive each way. I could hire a babysitter but we’re pretty maxed out on $ already.
