Adults gone through foster care system

I am on this app for around 9 years. There is not a day that goes by without a post with pregnant woman not knowing what to do, moms with sever ppd that don’t feel they can take care of the baby, negligent parents- from beating their kids to ones that are called that way because they gave their kid chicken nugget or didn’t buckle their kid proper. When you read comments on those posts, almost 50% is cps, cps, cps, adoption, adoption… I don’t know.. I have a feeling a lot of people don’t even understand or can comprehend what that means in a childs life.

It’s sad that I have to write a disclaimer, but that is the way our world is today- I‘m not talking about serious abuse and harming children. Hopefully that is clear.

My mom spanked me. And she spanked me HARD. With open palm, full force. With belt as a 16-year old.

All of you on this app would call cps on her and I would have been separated from her.

But now, as adult, I wouldn’t want that for mini me. I love my mom with whole my heart and she was always there for me- always! There is not one thing she wouldn’t sacrifice for me. I talk to her every day, multiple times. I wouldn’t want any other mom.

I know what she did was wrong. I would never spank my kids. But I also understand that the times were different. She didn’t know better. She was raised that way. She didn’t have tik toks, instagrams or internet to lern better, to even be introduced to generational trauma and braking cycles.

I wish it was different but I don’t hate her for that.

Anyways, I wanted to see if there are people on this app that were separated from their parents and went through foster care that feel like their mental health would be better if they stayed with their parent/s? That the decision of separation was wrong?
