Accelerated Nursing Program vs. Pregnancy

I’m just looking for everyone’s opinions because I keep going back and forth with myself in my head.

Keep in mind I already have 2 children. Having a pregnancy and third child will not be considered a hardship for me in my education journey.

Right now, I’m in a 2 year ADN program. It’s going great, I’m making great grades. High 97-100 in everything. We’ve been trying for a baby for 2 months, all negative tests though. Now, I know a lot of people would think it’s insane to intentionally get pregnant during nursing school. I can agree, but I know I can handle it. In my heart, I want nothing more than a third child. If I were to become pregnant now I would be due during summer break which would give me 8 or more weeks off school after giving birth. Now, my original plan was that I needed to be pregnant by November to make that work and if I wasn’t, we would take a break from TTC, id go back on the pill, and we would wait to try again until I was closer to graduation because I cannot take time off during an active semester and stay on track. I know I can’t. The catch up would be impossible, and I don’t want to do anything that would push my graduation farther back.

I recently learned that my school has an accelerated program. They only started it last year, there is no guarantee they will do one this year. The accelerated program adds a semester in the summer so my graduation would be at the end of next fall instead of spring of 2025. There would be no break. You cannot apply to get into the accelerated program. The instructors will pick only 8 students (we have roughly 30-35 in our cohort currently) who they believe NEED the accelerated program (ex: the students who have to work and need to graduate sooner) and those who they believe will be successful (ex: those with good grades/clinical performance)

Now I want to be into the accelerated program IF they offer it again this coming year and IF I get chosen for it. We won’t find out if they offer it next year or who they pick for it until the spring semester of 2024.

Do y’all think it would be worth TTC for one more month & being due in July (if we conceive) during the summer break and continue on track for graduation in spring of 2025, or would it be wiser to hold off JUST IN CASE I get chosen for the accelerated program and graduate in fall of 2024? We want a baby so so bad and I know for a fact I can manage it if I have the summer break. But I also want to graduate 6 months sooner if it’s possible, and I absolutely can’t take time off during an active semester for maternity leave and manage to stay on track.

Logically, I know I should hold off & wait to see what happens with school. But I WANT a third child so deeply it consumes my every thought. What’s everyone’s thoughts and opinions? I know I sound absolutely crazy in this post.

Please be kind, even if you can’t understand why this even a debate for myself. If you can’t provide anything constructive to say, please just scroll by. Thank you 😊
