When should you see a doc?

I've just called my doctors to book an appointment to conform pregnancy and I've been told thats not required anymore and she will book me in woth a midwife......in 12 weeks time! Is this right! I kicked off a bit and said I wanted to see someone earlier so she booked me with the doctor on 20 may and booked a midwife app at the end of june. Am I been unreasonable thinking I should be seen sooner?

My doctor said they don’t have to see you to confirm pregnancy anymore because the home tests are so accurate. There’s nothing they can really do in the early weeks. Our first appointment was around 8 weeks.

It really depends on the doctor, but it seems to becoming more and more normal for doctors to not see you until 8-12 weeks, depending on the doctor’s preference.
My doctor only sees you earlier if you’re considered high risk, in which case they’ll monitor your hcg with blood tests.

I'm in UK. You dont see a GP for pregnancy confirmation. I was around 6 weeks for midwife and they didnt do a confirmation test either etc as the tests are that sensitive. Then my first scan was 12 weeks. I was like....what do I do with myself until then 🤔 but I soon got over that feeling when I got a doppler and heard my LO at 11 weeks +3 days. I actually shown my midwife where the heart beat was and LO kicked her and she felt it. She was like.. did you feel that.. I said yep lol. He was a wiggle bum in my belly and hes a wiggle bum now at 9 months old lol. 
Get a doppler and start using it around 11 weeks and you'll feel reassured until scans and once you feel kicks you'll not use it as much. 
I learnt to chill out in pregnancy as you're just cooking your little bun until LO is ready to come out, really helps with that attitude for labour. Whatever happens... happens.

When I called the Dr office they scheduled me to come in at 8 weeks. I gave a urine sample, had a bunch of bloodwork (about 4 tubes) and the Ob did a transvaginal ultrasound. I guess it just depends on the practice.

If you really want to you can walk in and ask them to do a pregnancy test, than when they confirm it they’ll make your first appointment, but ya it’s normal for some doctors offices so see you between 8-12 weeks

They don’t confirm pregnancy anymore. It’s a waste of time and money. :) Are you having bloodwork at 10 weeks for the combined screening (if you want it)? And is your 12 week scan booked? First midwife appointment is usually at 8-10 weeks.

That's weird. They usually try to put in for an appointment at 8-12 weeks for initial blood work at stuff. Wonder why they would change it

My office doesn’t see you before 12 unless you think something is wrong. We did a prenatal apt at 8 weeks but that was just to give insurance info and answer questions.

I referred myself to the midwife, didn’t even bother telling my GP until I was 10 weeks and I’d already had an initial appointment with the MW. The GP won’t do anything to confirm.

I felt the same way when they told me they wouldn’t see me till 12 weeks. But from what I hear it’s normal.
