Awkward

So my boyfriend and I are both 17, virgins, and we have been together for about nine months. I want to take the next step, and give him oral, and I'm pretty sure he wants to too. But the first problem is that I don't want to make him uncomfortable or turned off by me just jumping into it, yet I feel that if I asked him it would have the same effect if not more awkward. And the second problem is that I've never given( or received for that matter) oral, so I'm not quite sure how good I'll be at it. Any advice or tips, thanks💋
