Thoughts/experiences on online relationships?

Thoughts on dating a guy you met online? Or experiences?
 
I really like this guy, he is who he says he is, ya know in terms of looks! However I can't speak about if it's personality is 100% true and everything he's said. But the issue is, he lives on the other side of the world... He wants to try us out but I'm a little skeptical about how well it'll work, ofc I'll travel at some point but yah, not in the near future.

I'm all for online dating. I met my boyfriend online and we've been together for 2 years and living together for nearly 1 and a half. But we managed to meet very soon into our relationship and I could verify he was who he said he was.

It's a bit trickier with someone on the other side of the world. The amount of time it would take you to meet him, you would have invested a lot of time and energy into him. And then what if he's not the guy you thought he was? Idk. It's a tough situation
