I kiss my gay best friends right in front of my husband. And when he hugs them they kiss on the cheek. My ex is Italian and so is his whole family and when we're at events together (my mom works for his family) I kiss him and his brother and his mother and his father and grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins. In MOST cultures it's a greeting.
