I'm 18 and I just started college. My bf and I have been dating for a year. He's my best friend and we're honestly completely in love. Like we've talked about getting married and starting a family after college.

We're both at the point after a year of dating that we're ready and want to have sex. I want to tell my mom that we are thinking about it and that we want to, but I don't know how. I'm close with my mom so I want her to know that we want to have sex. Help please!

Can I ask why? Just to, or because you need help getting BC. I'm curious. When I was 18 I never thought about discussing my sex life with her, I mean I was grown. We were close to, but I guess not that close.

Sit down with her and be up front tell her ur ready that if I weren't u woudbt be doing it she gonna wanna make sure you use protection so tell her you are going to use it all the time if your not on birth control

Ask if you can talk to her when she has some time free, explain how you feel in your relationship and tell her you'd like her to know for emotional support if it's needed as it's a big step in your life, if your not on bc already and if you feel comfortable ask if she'd be willing to go to an appointment with you and know your serious about your decision. 
My mam and me are very close and this is how what I did, she was happy I felt comfortable telling her and in a way it made us stronger because we both realised that we can talk about anything and she knows I think about what I want before I jump in. Good luck.

Quite frankly there's no need to tell her, you're an adult! 😬 My mom knows I'm sexually active because I am very close with her. But I didn't sit down and tell her exactly, I think she just assumed because I am an adult in an adult relationship. If you really feel the need to tell her just tell her you wanna talk to her and be upfront! But don't feel any pressure either, you're an adult and she probably assumes you have sex anyhow! She was your age once 😋
