How much do babies normally eat at 6 months?

We started to introduce him to solids around 4 months. My son turned 6 months last week and now are trying to get him to eat more soilds.I am not sure if I am over feeding him, I mean he keeps it down. At every feed expect late night I feed him Gerber baby food which is a 4 oz container and he still wants his bottle which is about 6 oz. Mind you my son is a larger baby, he born pretty big 8 lbs 11 oz and now about 20 lbs and 27 inches. I haven't gone to his 6 months appointment yet...I'm just curious has anyone else out there feed their baby like this?

Breast milk or formula needs to be their main source of nutrition until about one year. One solid meal a day is appropriate at six months.

My niece eats like a champ and was also weaned from 4 months. She eats SO much you just cannot fill her up. She's a bottomless pit!

She is healthy and thriving and nearly walking at 10 months old. Do what you feel is best as his mummy! If he wants to eat - let him eat! He will take as much as he needs to survive.

That sounds like an awful lot of solid food! I would give the bottle first and then see how much solid food he wants. I would keep it to two 'meals' a day- morning and dinner. How many ounces is he drinking a day?

My children's pediatrician told me when starting solids to give 8 oz of bottle/ or breast feed as usual ,  then give babyfood/ purées  and solids only once - twice daily.

Every baby is different, my son hardly ate still doesn't eat much. My daughter was a bottomless pit
