Is an 8 year old girl too young to be in the delivery room?

So this entire pregnancy we have been discussing my eight-year-old daughter who is the eldest to be there during the delivery. I have three daughters and our son is on the way! My eight-year-old daughter is very mature for her age, as she is the eldest to two sisters now. She is very responsible and respectful. Unfortunately now all of the sudden my husband as opposed to the idea. I have not only explained the process of birth but have showed her graphic pictures and videos to make sure that she would be able to handle it. After all of our conversations and videos in education she is so excited to greet her baby brother to this earth.

My only thought is what if (God forbid) something goes wrong and your daughter sees her mom and/or baby brother in distress. That could be very traumatizing to her.

Also, your husband will have to be responsible for keeping an eye on her, making sure she is dealing ok. (Even if she is mature, he will have to be aware of what she is doing and seeing at all times.). That is extra pressure for him since he also has to support you. Birth can be stressful for men too (trying to help the mom, worrying about her and the baby) and you are asking him to take on extra stress.

You're her mother if you feel she can handle it and you want her there then be their everyone's opinions on here don't matter that's between you your husband and her so if she wants to be there and you feel like she can handle it and you want her there and you can get your husband on your side and convince him that she can handle it then go for it Who knows this could be your last kid I mean you may want more you may not or it could just not work out so this could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to experience the birth of her sibling so do what you think is best people on here saying yeah she's too young she's not going to understand and all that they don't matter because they don't know you or her it's your choice you're the mother and you're the only one that knows if she can handle it and her maturity level

My 7 year old daughter was in the room standing right next to my midwife while she delivered my son. She loved the whole experience and her and her brother have always been very close.

Have her watch an actual birth video. Make her understand things could go wrong and that you're gonna be in pain. But heck why not? I'm sure everything will turn out ok and how special would it be for her to be there on such a special day. But let her know there will be blood, possible screaming, possible complications that could scare her.   I wouldn't want her to faint. lol

My 8 year old was in the room but she slept through the entire thing. Her father woke her up and said your sister is here. She rubbed her eyes and said, "wait i missed it. Did mommy cry or scream? I didn't hear anything." 😂😂😂

I'm 27 and would not be in a room when someone is giving birth. I don't like seeing people in pain at all, especially those close to me. It may seem okay for her when she birthing videos, but has she seen YOU in pain? A hospital in general is not a very "warm" place and the delivery room won't feel like delivering at home with familiar things around her. It's your choice though. I personally wouldn't. PS: my 25 y/o friend accidentally walked in while her sister was being prepped for birth, she said that image will never leave her mind. It's scary. But obviously each to her own. Hospitals here don't allow children under 12 in the wards anywayy.

I'm opposed to it only because god forbid something happens during that delivery and your daughter sees it.. nobody saw me coming out with the cord knotted around my neck, the guy who was supposed to catch my dad ended up passing out and the students observing the birth were just in pure shock.

Also the videos and images you showed her aren't you... it may be different seeing mom in pain,uncomfortable. Your husband probably objects it now because as an above comment said... he has to watch your daughter too because again you never know

I see tons of kids with their moms doing the water births. Little kids. But it's in the comfort of home. 
Idk how a hospital experience would be might be a little traumatic. But it's up to you mama and what you think is right. If she is prepared and wants to be there I say let her ! I might have her stand away from the action tho ... unless u want that image burned into their brain. 
Might be the best form of birth control 😂
