gender reveal early?

I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't gotten some type of blood test to find out the gender early. My dr won't approve it just says it's unessesary. I plan on private paying to get a scan and the place I'm going can tell as early as 14 weeks. I'm just worried about it being wrong because it's still kind of early. It's 55 dollars. How many people have had it done that early? Did the gender end up being something else later on? What are my chances here?
