best safe non hormonal bc?

I've been on the birth control pill for a couple of years and it's depleted my hormones. So no sex drive whatsoever! Are there any good ones out there that don't deplete all the hormones? I was thinking an IUD, but heard scary stories.

I have an iud and it's a good option if you don't want any hormones. It does hurt very much but I think it's worth it. Be sure to take some ibuprofen or pain meds before going to get it inserted and have someone drive you home! (Learned that one the hard way) and don't do anything for the rest of the day. You might have some different pain than I did but I could hardly move. A warm bath helped though. That should only last the day you get it though then it should subside. You might have some more cramping the next week or so after getting it inserted but totally worth it in my opinion. Do lots of research though and talk to your gynecologist.

I've literally looked everywhere and most non hormonal birth controls are not very effective so I've just been using fertility awareness, basically keeping track of my ovulation days an all. It's easy for me because my cycles are clockwork and  I actually have pain when I ovulate so I know when to avoid sex or just use withdrawal but everyone's different find what works for you!
