Sex on period

I have a friend who has sex on her period and I tried it a few times. Is it gross to have sex while on ur period and is it possible to get pregnant my bf uses a condom btw and I am on birth control but I have one week of inactive pills which is the last week then I get my period and start a new pack the next week but I am wondering is in possible to get pregnant if u have sex on ur period?
