Trying to conceive

My girlfriend and I are trying to have a baby she was on the implanon birth control for 3 years and didn't have a single period we got it taken out about 3 weeks ago and she has had sore breasts shes been really tired and she started her period last week and ever since then it's been heavy bleeding, she's also had some blood clots not too big but enough to notice it's their, is this normal for getting off birth control?
