High chair type - and why?

FTM here, not due for a few more months. I know I won't use a high chair in the beginning, but it's a definite registry item so I'm looking for recommendations. Do you prefer a stand alone high chair or one that only attaches to a dining chair? And why?

The one I registered for can do either.... I like that it can stand alone because we often have company and I need every seat we have... but I also like that I have the option to attach to a chair if I want to.

The way our table is, an attachment one would not work.  What I have learned the hard way is to get a high chair that has a "one hand tray removal" instead of two.  Our high chair you have to grab both sides of the tray to unattach it, vs the ones with a "handle" type thing in the middle so if your holding baby you can do it with just one hand.  Hope that makes sense!

I have the stand alone Graco Swift Fold Highchair and get so many compliments on it when people come over because it's so compact and folds up so easily. Very easy to clean too. I love it! I do also have the Chicco Pocket Snack Booster seat in my car for when we travel (restaurants and friends/family homes) but I feel like its easy to tip over

The one I bought is a stand alone with a top tray that detaches for easy cleaning, the chair comes off and can get strapped to a normal chair at your dining table and the base it was attached to is a toddler seat with a seatbelt!! So it's really a three-in-one!!

I like a stand alone. I have the oxo tot one. I think that's what it's called... I like that you can move it around. For example I had mine sit in the kitchen while I prepared dinner most nights and he tried/snacked in ingredients to try things. :)

I Love the stand alone reclining ones. if baby falls asleep while eating, just recline it back

I have this and it's great! It all wipes down and the insert comes out for when they're bigger. Really lightweight and easy to take out with us. My little girl would sit in it in the garden when she was younger and when we go for picnics.

The chair I chose for my registry can stand alone and change positions so that it makes it easier to feed. One of the reasons why I’m choosing it is so that I can bring it with me to restaurants and not have to deal with the ones there. I worked in a restaurant for 5 years and those things are hard to clean!!

I had a stand alone and my baby did not like it. I think he felt too far away from the family still. We moved him to a booster seat and he was much happier. So next time I'll get one that attaches to our chairs.

I like the high chairs that I can move easily. So on a chair for me it is lol. My family is constantly on the move from place to place and when I was baby sitting the high chairs that I could just take with me where a miracle. Now I'm a FTM too I but the ingenuity seat on my registry. It's the one the mom I baby sat for had.
