Help!

I woke up early this morning to blood dripping down to my front which even on my heaviest days of my period I was never that heavy. I also notice that the blood was brown and when I got to the bathroom after a few drips it already didn’t seem as heavy. I also put a tampon in then and only about 4 hours later it’s not got very much on it. Any ideas? Is it just my period being weird or something else? I have a doctors appointment on the 7.

Just an hour after this it was heavy again and the color had turned to a light, bright red.
