Weight Lifting?

I am 14 weeks tomorrow. I work at Kroger Deli and they want me to lift a box of chicken that is 40 lbs. I go see my High Risk OB on the 13th and I'm gonna ask him about it but I wanna know what you Mommies think. Should I Be lifting 40lbs being pregnant?

How strong are you? Are you capable of lifting 40 pounds without straining? If you can safely lift it then, yes it is fine. But if you aren’t strong enough, then no you shouldn’t.

depends if you are accustomed to lifting that or not but the high risk part makes me feel like you probably shouldn't...talk to your doc, I've lifted weights my entire pregnancy and def more than 45lbs lol but my body was already accustomed to that

Probably not if you’re high risk. I’ve had to quit picking up my son who is about 35-40 lbs because I would have some pretty intense cramps afterwards. My Dr. said to try and avoid it as much as possible and I’m only 7 weeks. 🤷‍♀️

If you’re high risk then maybe you shouldn’t be lifting so I’d request a restriction notice from your dr to provide to your employer. Typically (unless high risk or told otherwise for whatever reason by your physician) whatever activities you did pre-pregnancy can be done during. I still lift 50+ pounds, my dr knows and hasn’t said a thing about it being bad or hurtful to me or the pregnancy at 29w. People still go on to practice their regular weight lifting routines throughout pregnancy as well.

If you’re high risk, I wouldn’t go near the box. You want to keep yourself and baby as healthy and safe as possible.

I was high risk and my OB said no more than 10lbs. If I hadn't been high risk, she would've said no more than 20-25lbs.

No! With my last, I wasn't able to lift over 15 lbs. I'm sticking to that this time to avoid any trouble.

first of all No you should not be lifting anything over 8lbs, or a gallon of milk, secondly hell no not if your high risk.
