Stringy mucus?

So when I got up to go pee this morning and sat down I noticed my southern region felt a little wet , and there was a dime sized tan spot in my panties. and then I wiped there was like a ton of vaginal mucus or something, it didn’t seem like discharge but it was really thick and stringy. It looked like a thicker version of cum but with more color.. what is it?

I’m going to the clinic today. I started my period that night but it was all gooey and not at all like a usually start (a blood bath) and for the past 5 days I havent even filled a whole tampon, it’s been like spotting CONSTANTLY! So I’m worried something is wrong
