Marriage rejected

is it weird that neither my bf and I care for marriage. if I want his last name I can change my name to his. no need for an expensive wedding we could just have a gathering of our love ones. my perspective of marriage is very tainted do to my parents' marriage. I don't see why we should spend a lot of time and money on a gathering and name change
