Should children be allowed fake nails/fake hair?

My niece turned 10 years old and she had a few requests that she wanted for her birthday. Of all of them only one I could afford which was fake nails I took it to the nail salon and we picked out a style and then she got the acrylic nails. I was right there when they put them on her finger and I was able to determine how long she should get them. I wanted her to feel special and to feel older due to the fact that 10 is a double digit and that she is slowly becoming a teenager

what are your thoughts on children getting fake nails and fake hair?
