Is 3 weeks to soon to introduce a bottle?

I've been breastfeeding exclusively and I had a nurse suggest that I introduce my daughter to a bottle at 3 weeks. That just seems kind of soon. Thoughts?

Nope go for it! Just be consistent. I offer a bottle once a day starting between 2 and 3 weeks (and I pump for the next days at the same time) and all other feeds at the breast. As long as you use a slow flow nipple and paced bottle feeding, there’s no reason to fear baby will leave the breast. Nipple confusion is almost always actually flow preference. It’s important to do it often enough or they may take the bottle initially but reject it later on.

I know that’s the general advice, to wait, but we ended up supplementing with formula and giving pumped breast milk the first week with my son and we are exclusively breastfeeding right now and doing very well. He doesn’t like the bottle much, not any of the three kinds I have, but he will take it. But he hasn’t had a bottle of any kind in two weeks. We had no problems with “nipple confusion” or anything like that. He really only wants the boob 😂

I gave my baby a bottle at like 5 days old. She did great and still does great now at almost 3 weeks old with both breastfeeding and bottle feeding

I had to use bottles on day 3. He wasn’t getting enough at the breast and I was pumping to supplement with breast milk between feeds. Using tomee tippee extra slow flow and he’s still taking to the breast at 8 days old. Bottle is nice cuz it gives hubby a chance to feed and me a chance to sleep. So far so good.

My baby took a bottle at 6 days old. He takes the breast and bottle and there’s no nipple confusion. My milk supply went low a few days so I had to give formula to supplement in the night. He’s back on breast milk but don’t be afraid to try it once. We use the como tomo bottles.

No, it’s not too soon. My pediatrician just recommended to me the other day that I introduce bottle to newborn by 4 weeks. She said if I wait much after that, it can be very difficult to get the baby to even take the bottle. 
With my first, he was also exclusively breastfed and we started introducing the bottle around 3 weeks with my expressed milk. 
Good luck! They say it’s best to let dad or someone else offer the bottle with you out of the room. If you’re near, baby will fight the bottle because they know the real deal is close by.

I gave my first a bottle at 4 days old, and my second at 2 weeks. No problems with either of them. Just use a slow flow nipple. We also burp and take a short break after each ounce.

I had to introduce a bottle within the first week because my milk was delayed coming in and he lost too much weight and needed to eat. My son still breastfeeds fine and hes almost 3 weeks so I think 3 weeks is okay to introduce.
