Out of state wedding at 36 weeks?

My best friend is getting married a 4hr flight from where I live when I am 36 weeks pregnant.  My doctor has said I can absolutely not go and I am not planning to based on her advice (she says risk of blood clots & possibility of going into labor with a premie just isn’t worth it). Just curious if others have travelled on a flight that’s 4+ hrs at 36 weeks? Do you think my doctor is being too conservative? FWIW I’m 30, ftm and this has been a totally healthy/normal pregnancy.

Your doctor isn’t being too conservative and the airline wouldn’t accept you without a note from a medical professional saying it’s okay for you to be flying.  I wouldn’t risk it.

My mother-in-law passed away last week. I was not allowed to attend the funeral which was only a 2.5 hour flight.  I was 36 weeks and my doctor and the airline said no to flying. There are higher risks at this point in your pregnancy no matter how healthy it's been this far.

An airline won’t let you fly without doctor’s consent anyway. I just had to show letters to fly at 28 and 30 weeks because I look huge. Luckily I had the letter or it would have been a no go.

It is generally recommended that women not travel during their last trimester. Especially that close to their due date so no, your doctor is not being too conservative. It has nothing to do with whether you have a healthy pregnancy or not. Your doctor gave you the best advice.

Unless you plan to drive, it is a no. My doctor doesn’t want patients further than an hour away from the delivery hospital starting at 36 weeks.

My doctor wouldn’t let me fly past 34. It’s not just his rules but most airlines have rules as well. I flew at 28 weeks and needed a doctors note. I mean you hear way too often of women giving birth when flying at 30+ weeks, can happen so suddenly.
