confused , help !

so i took the initiative to talk to a guy and told him that i wanted to talk to him and we exchanged numbers and everything like that. we were cool and he came over 2 times and we didn’t do anything just talked and chilled .. but i noticed that even in the beginning he barely texts me but in person there’s no issue and he talks to me. lately though, we haven’t spoken .. i kind of feel like he’s ignoring me idk.. but i asked him when i saw him why he stopped speaking to me and if i did anything to him and he said no. he’s just been really busy that week and he’ll explain himself this week. i don’t think i’ll be hearing from him but i just really want to know why.. like was it me ? i’m contemplating right now if i should text him and ask him can he just be honest with me and tell me what’s going on without sounding desperate so any advice?🥺🥺 i really want to try this out ☹️
