When to transition to cows milk?

My daughter will be 11 months on November 1st. Is it too soon to start the transition by giving her one bottle of cows milk per day along with her regular formula bottles? I know doctors recommend 12 months but damn. My daughter goes through 2 containers of formula a week right now.

I would wait till 12 months. But I would cut back on formula and give more solids. At this age they should only be getting 20-25oz of formula a day.

Woah what kinda formula are you using? The Sams brand for $22 last me a week and a half. My baby also only does 3 bottles a day. Starting on milk early also depends on baby’s weight gain. I was able to start at 11 months with my first but this baby doesn’t gain well enough to start early. Message your dr or talk to a nurse at the office if possible.

I asked my pedi about starting whole milk with my 10 1/2 month old too. She said to wait another month b/c whole milk has more phosphorus in it and the babies kidneys may not be mature enough to handle it.  🤷🏼‍♀️

Okay I asked at my dr appointment for you! He said at 11 months you can do whole milk mix half formula (4oz) and (4oz) whole milk give it for a week if lo does well then go for 8oz whole milk! I hope this helps.

I was told to start at around 9 months my daughter was eating 8 ounces of formula at 9 months her pediatrician said give 1 ounce of cows milk and 7 of formula when she became 10 months give 3 of Milk 5 of formula then at 11 months give 6 of cows milk and then at a year old they should be okay with just straight milk my daughter is only 10 months olds and will NOT eat formula at all! She’s on water milk and once in a blue moon juice and her pediatrician okayed it I guess it depends on how your baby is I couldn’t just starve my daughter because google says not to give cows milk!  Lol good luck though just give your little one time to adjust so go slow give a little at a time

Yeah I think talking to your doctor is best since clearly everyone’s has a different view. At my sons 9 month appointment we were told not to even think about introducing milk until a year.

Talk to your dr. But mine told us at our 9 month appointment we could start introducing milk to our son, especially since he’d already been eating yougurt and cheeses with no issues. Although so far he is not interested in milk at all.
