Hair dressing nightmare

Please help ladies!!

My roommate has highlighted my hair and it is AWFUL. 2 weeks have passed and I’ve not had the guts to say anything. I NEED to get it sorted before Christmas but have no idea what to say in order for it not to be awkward around the house and to break our relationship. She is a family friend and very easily offended. I want to go to another salon to get it rectified but don’t know how to do so no not hurt her in the process. She has been a hairdresser for years!
