Should teachers be allowed to strike and if so should their be limits?
Currently in Ontario, Canada there is a teachers strike going on. They’re striking for a variety of reasons including a 2% wage increase, keeping full day kindergarten for students, limiting the amount of online courses students are required to take and to go back on the governments plan to increase class sizes. I agree with a lot of the things the teachers are fighting for, but on the other hand the teachers are striking four days out of every two week period which is leaving nearly one million students out of school during these days. This has an impact on families ability to go to their own jobs, the students education, etc. Should teachers be able to strike whenever they feel necessary? Should the government and teachers have a set deadline of how long they can take to come to an agreement or some other stipulation to prevent strikes from going on for months on end? Is there a good way to minimize the impact on students during striking?
