Can drug use cause autoimmune diseases?

I have a family member who posts on Facebook frequently (literally daily) about all her hospital visits and health problems Crohn’s disease etc, but I’ve heard from my parents that she used to be a hard drug user in the past and also would get prescribed a lot of prescription drugs. They’re really skeptical about it but I know next to nothing about this so does anyone know if there could be a correlation to hard drugs/pills and autoimmune diseases?

I have read that unhealthy habits like hards drug use can trigger the autoimmune disease you are already predisposed to. At least that's one theory.

Drug use can trigger autoimmune problems you’re already predisposed to. It does not cause them.
Also...*used to be* a hard drug user? Kinda sounds like your parents have a “she brought it in herself” mentality and are looking for reasons not to sympathise?

Why does it matter? If she’s sober now and has an autoimmune disorder it doesn’t matter. She’s ill and needs support. Having a chronic illness is extremely difficult. Having people in your life question you, blame you, accuse you, talk poorly about you is painful and not very supportive.

Don’t think so.
I’m dealing with auto immune issues and I have never taken anything in my life. I don’t even take pain killers when my headaches are out of control.
My ex was a very heavy drug user in his teens and he’s perfectly healthy 🤷‍♀️ just like both of my uncles who are into drugs
