What does he mean, am I dumped ?

My bf is depressed and he said “let’s just end this” (meaning us) and he explained its because he has a lot going on with his family that he doesn’t feel comfortable discussing, but he said it would be better if I didn’t get involved so does that mean he’s really breaking up with me or it’s just a break till he sorts himself out?

He still has his clothes at mine only a few shirts and stuff but he hasn’t seen me or doesn’t plan on seeing me. When he said “let’s just end it I hope you understand” I just replied “okay no worries I hope you’re fine” thinking back i sounded so dumb cause I didn’t even fight it or question it properly like if he really means it or not.

I don’t want to ask him or bother him anymore incase it causes an argument or I look stupid so thats why I sort of just answered bluntly but that’s not even how I really feel and I still believe that we are still together what do I do I wanna fight this
