Self worth over engagement ring?!

I've heard plenty of my coworkers say, "If he doesn't get me this carat/size of ring I'll tell him hell no, I'm worth more than that!" Why do you have to have an enormous rock to be with the one you love? My husband & I were in a tight spot when we got engaged. It was adorable he took me to a hotel (didn't know it was going to be run down), then we went to a Mexican restaurant (I got awful food poisoning), then when he finally proposed I bailed my eyes out because he went through all that trouble to make it perfect (even though everything failed) even with my cheap ring he was the man of my dreams & that beautiful ring will show a rough time in our relationship we made it through with our love. Yes, my ring was $35 but it will always be my prize possession all my coworkers can keep their $1,500-$5,000 rings. Rant over 😭😍

Oh, I've seen some women demand a huge expensive ring! It's weird to me. When we got engaged hubby was still in college. We met, started planning our wedding 3 months later and were married 3 months after that. No, I didn't have a huge fancy ring and it was perfect none the less. I think a lot of it is keeping up with the Joneses or being together for a long time and expecting a big ring bc of that

My ring is also not very big. I love it tho. My husband said he will get me a bigger one later, but I don't think I want a bigger one. I love my ring the way it is. And I love my husband more than I'll ever love a ring.

You are such a lucky women to have a man that would go to such an effort to make it perfect. A ring shouldn't be important, I'd like the idea one day if I got engaged with my partner to look down at it and remember all the memories we have together and how much we love each other. And any ring would bring that feeling to your heart never my the price of it. Congratulations, have a wonderful future.

I said 'yes' to a 3D printed simple band and we got formally engaged with matching simple white gold bands. His family gave me a .25 carat solitaire as my 'wedding band' on our wedding day.  The giant ring is irrelevant.  We got me a fancy special occassion set later but by no means was it a condition of marriage.   I wear the original set 95% of the time.  Oh also...most people would never be able to tell with the naked eye that your $35 ring wasn't $6k.  Well cut cubic zirconia are almost indistinguishable from diamonds to the naked eye.  Your ring is gorgeous.
