Did I do the right thing?

Okay so I was dating this guy for a while & he broke up with me & 3 days later I kissed someone else. It sorta just happened & I felt terrible. But meanwhile he was having sex & trying to hook up with most of my friends. I know we both did wrong & that we were not together but it still effects our relationship extremely. I recently started talking to him again but last week I was at a party & I was really drunk & I cried all my feelings out to a friend of mine & he told me it's not worth it & that I deserve better.  So yesterday I ended things with the guy & I feel good about it I just can't hesitate to think I maybe taken the wrong decision:/
