Cold sore?

Does anyone have any ideas what could help with cold sores? I get one around the same time every year, which is now. and it makes my lip swell up and its very uncomfortable.

Orajel makes a stick you break and swab on the sore, it's expensive but works wonders, mine disappear in less then 2 days

I get cold sores once or twice a year and some things that I found that work for me  is holding  a hot rag to it for a few minuets, the heat will help draw out the infection, then put alcohol on a qtip and dab it on the sore. This will help dry the sore up. And whenever it itches, hold a ice cube on it for a minute or two.

Mine usually last about 5 days when I get them.  Good luck!

Abreeva is crap, vanilla extract, milk, or hydrogen peroxide helps... There are a bunch more out there, personally if I want to get from blisters to scabs faster I use a q tip and I put a layer of toothpaste on it. .. burns like a bitch and if you leave it on too long it can scar, so I tend to wipe it off after the tingling stops, you can buy lysine in chapstick form too, to spread on your lips, just remember to Chuck your toothbrush and any balms/ lip sticks you used so as not to re infect

I normally use abreva but garlic works if you cut open the garlic and hold it on your lip for like 20 min. IT DOES BURN THOUGH LIKE A LOT!

I take 2 lysine tablets a day and use campfofanic (sp?) for 3 days and it works wonders

Cold sores are caused by a virus and you never get rid of it but you can reduce flare ups. It's probably worse in winter if you get run down. Try to look after your health and eat lots of fruit and veg for the vitamins.

Get some abreva. Use it 5 times daily. Alcohol on a qtip will help it dry up faster. I always call my dr and have her prescribe me acyclovir as well.
