5 pounds 4 ounces at 35 weeks ?!

Question

I had an ultrasound done this morning and they told me he weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces ? They told me he had a little belly but it's in the normal range ? I got home asked my sister and she said because I don't eat right and he's not gaining enough weight ? I'm really concerned now ? What should I eat to help him gain weight ?

If the doctors aren't worried, you shouldn't be worried. Your sister is full of it.

I'm 35w2d, I just had a visit today and they estimated my boy at 5lbs. It's a great weight so by the time I'm in labor they estimate 7-8lbs which I think is ideal. Like someone posted earlier, if the Drs aren't worried you shouldn't be either.

Sounds like a good weight for 35 weeks.  Don't worry...your baby will be perfect.

That is a perfectly normal weight for 35 weeks... And they are very often wrong when they tell you a weight from an ultrasound so I wouldn't worry about it too much you are doing fine :)

I am 34 weeks and my girl is at 6lbs 1oz and that means she is bigger then 82 %of babies at this point which is on the big side her belly is measuring 36 weeks. So I think you are just fine! Don't stress it girl!

Those scans are rarely accurate with weight. Don't worry about it! Some babies come out small and some come out big, the most important thing is that they keep cooking to 37 weeks. My first was supposed to be huge but, she turned out to be 6lbs 0oz and wore preemie clothes for teo weeks, but she was perfectly healthy and came home two days after she was born :)
