Does alcohol affect erections?

He'd had a few drinks, but was in a better state than me when we left- when we got home, he seemed perfectly fine (not noticeably tipsy/drunk) but when we tried anal (which didn't work this time around) and when I was giving him a handjob, his erection kept sort of... Becoming less of one and I'm pretty sure it took longer for him to finish as well. Is that normal when you've been drinking? Just curious haha :) (he'd also been playing rugby, don't know if that could have been a factor?) thanks in advance!! :)
