No condom?

Last night I was coming off my period but we decided to have sex anyway, I was wet enough and we used lube but everytime he put it in wearing a condom it was painful and EXTREMELY itchy. He took it off and we tried without a condok and it was fine, no pain no itch, it actually felt a lot better than usual (we've only ever done it with a condom) anyway we only did it for about a minute then he pulled out as he didn't want to finish near me without protection.
