Cherry or period?

Me and my boyfriend just recently had sex. Before we did anything I was a virgin. I don't think he popped my cherry but we did it again yesterday and when I went to pee I bled only when I wiped myself (I didn't see any in my pee) so I assumed it was just my hymen but today I had really bad cramps and I think I started my period because I was bleeding. Is this normal? I typically have irregular periods and I heard sex makes them regular. I'm not sure if it's my cherry or my period. Help!!
