Lying or paranoid?

My SO does not smoke cigarettes bc I hate them. He use to though. He has smoked a couple when we've been out drinking but always ask me if its cool so I've always been okay with that, bc I appriciate his effort in trying to quit for me.

I'm at his house right now, we were about to go to bed, and his roommate said  did John (there friend that isn't over) leave his cigarettes over here and winked at my SO. His roommate had no idea I was looking at him. I felt like it was actually my SO pack and his roommate was covering for him.

When we went to his bedroom, I asked him why his roommate winked and he played dumb and said he had no idea.... I told my SO that I don't believe him and he's still playing dumb. What do you think?

For something like being addicted to cigarettes.. That's a terribly hard thing to quit. And truthfully, he has to want to quit for himself and his own reasons. Not because someone else wants him too, ya know? How did he quit? Pills, patch, gum, cold turkey? I wouldn't be surprised at all if his friend is covering for him strictly because quitting to smoke is extremely hard. I've seen many love ones with the struggle. My aunt hid smoking from my uncle for almost 15 years! Addiction can do that to a person. The best thing is to just let it go for now and in time you'll find the truth. Maybe next time he's drinking tell him you don't want him to smoke and see his reaction? If he does it anyways... You probably have your answer that he's also doing it when you're not around.

Lol he only asks you to make you feel better but he's definitely still smoking. You can't change a person, especially with an addiction. Deal or no deal😁.

He's lying. I know this because that was me and my roommate. Smoking is EXTREMELY hard to quit. Go easy on him. He will quit when he wants. Not saying that in a rude way. My boyfriend hated when I smoked and kept pushing me. I kept smoking anyway. Finally, I quit on my own without anyone telling me to.
