Nuva Ring

I just started a new form of birth control, I was on the pill now I'm trying the Nuva Ring, now I just got it and inserted it, how long u have to go before you don't have to use extra contraception. And do you have to refrigeratorate them immediately.  I didn't see anything on the website about refrigeratorating them. But I have read comments on needing to refrigerate it,  also how effective and how well it work for who is taking it.
