I love my boyfriend but...

I love my boyfriend he really means everything to me but his dad is severely abusive not in a fiscal way but emotionally to the point where I have had to tell him I no longer want to be around his dad period but of course that's making things hard because he still wants to believe his dad is a good person seeming as he doesn't have a mum :/ but his dad reminds me to much of some of my family members who really screwed me up. I don't know what to do because he won't stand up to his dad and it's really starting to hurt me emotionally because he's constantly choosing his dad's abusive choices about my boyfriend and i's life over my feelings and distress :(
