Can you watch your own C section?

This might be a crazy question but I have a morbid fascination with body parts and love watching operations and stuff.  I love watching my blood get drawn and I've watched all my dental surgeries with a mirror.  I was wondering if there's a chance that if I had a c section would I be allowed to watch it? I'd be awake right? Is this even an option of off the board not allowed?

The hospital I had my son at has clear curtains available so that you can see if you want to. So yes, you may be able to depending on your doctor/hospital. Only way to know for sure is to ask them.

I've seen some birth stories where the mother has done an assisted c section, she finished pulling baby out in the room but I feel like it would have to be a major hospital and the liability would be massive

I don't think you are aloud I have had 3 and having 4th in April but my doctor did let my husband video it for me

I saw an awsome story on birth without fears facebook page of a woman who found a doctor who would let her pull her own baby out or her belly while getting a c section it was really neat and empowering.

Too much liability and your attitude could change in a second when you actually see the cut. They won't risk it, no matter how much you assure them you could handle it.

There is also the concern of your bodies involuntary responses that would worry the doctors. A lot of times if someone sees things going into or coming out of their own body unnaturally it has a rapid affect on that person's bp and they can faint.

It's up to your hospital/Dr. I've heard of it, but most of the time they don't do you don't totally freak out.  It doesn't hurt to ask, or see if they'll lower the screen at the end- sine sort of compromise.

You're not allowed to in most all hospitals. Not even allowed to film in the OR.

I saw a news article about this recently. I think it was called a "patient-assisted cesarean." The woman had to look for a long time to find a Dr and OR willing to do it. But if you look into it you might be able to.
