Would you stay in a relationship/marry a man if one or both parents didn't like?

Most people say it depends on why. They would if it was for a trivial reason. Like if it was because he was of a different race or religion or didn't make good money then they would marry him. But what if it was because they have a problem with someone aspect of his personality? What if you saw what they had a problem with but you believe he changed or 'grew up'?

Sometimes parents can provide an important outside perspective and they can see something you don't because you're in the relationship. They are older and wiser and have been through more than you have, and they want what's best for you (or they should), so I think it's definitely important to take their opinions into account. If someone has a personality problem, I don't believe that can change, people don't grow out of their personalities, and if you question it for a second just be careful before marrying them.

If the personality is mentally/physically/emotionally messing you up then I wouldn't be with him. But if it's something small that they're not picking about, It could always be worked on.

yeah my parents have never had much bearing on who I was with to me anyways but they aren't dating him so they don't know what goes on behind closed doors. They only get one perspective of him.

Your parents aren't the one in the relationship. Yes I'm sure they will be involved but not like the two of you. Honestly to answer any further you'd had to provide more details.. but if it's love then yes I'd be willing to stay and fight regardless of others approval. It's about your happiness.. your love and they should be supportive of you and your choices and happiness.. you shouldn't bank on others reactions to your relationship to dictate whether you should stay.. yes guidance.. but don't let others make that decision for you. I'm sure they have those feelings for a reason and I'm sure it's out of love so why not talk about it.. and if you decide you're secure in your relationship and that it's your journey to explore and find out if this person has changed for better or worse.. let them know that.. you have to figure that stuff out for yourself or you'll never truly know for sure.
