Do you think I'm to young?

So, recently my boyfriend had the idea of us getting married when I turn 18. There's a ton of people in my life who constantly tell me to don't settle and who always give me shit for what I do with my life. Mainly my mom, who ended up marrying my dad just to piss her family off. I feel like my mom thinks I'm going to make the same mistakes she did and she constantly compares me to herself. It's just extremely hard to try and make up my own life decisions when my mom is constantly tearing down my dreams and thinking I'm going to make the same mistakes she did. But anyway do you think it's to young for me to get married at 18?

Personally yes I think 18 is too young, I don't see the harm in waiting a few years, enjoying time being young and doing what you want ,becoming financially stable and gaining some maturity. If a few years from now you two are happier than ever then you will know it is the right thing to do to marry this person. All i can say is I am so glad I did not marry my boyfriend when I was 18 even though we talked about it all the time, people change and grow up and that can be a good thing

Yes, girl wait. Honestly what's the rush to get married? You're are very young and marriage is a very serious commitment. Ask plenty of adults who have been married. Marriage is not a fairy tale, I personally know someone who got married at 19 and they are now divorced because neither of them were ready for marriage. Just wait until you've been with you partner for a couple years or more, until you're done with college, have a nice place to live and a car, a stable career, and money saved up for a wedding. Like I said previously, what's the rush?

I'm gonna be the odd one here, lots of people get married young and it works. Honestly it's just about the couple, I think it could definitely work. I'd say just know that this is someone you could spend the rest of your life with. Think about his habits and financial status and motivation. Those things are important in a marraiage. If you think this will make you happy, don't listen to anyone else.

Why not get each other promise rings? 💍They're like pre-engagement rings and symbolize your promise to stay together and remain loyal until you're both ready for married life. I would wait until after college for the real deal.

I don't think you should rush it. If you guys have a real relationship then you should be able to wait a few years. Wait until you both are older and have more experience. Don't rush into something because you will regret it.

I think it all depends on your maturity level. Most people arent in the right relationship and mind set to get married at 18. But, I had a friend get married while she was still 17 to her husband, and it's been 5 years later and they're still happily married.

I don't think you're too young just make sure you're ready. I am 19 and I unlike many other people my age am ready to settle down. My boyfriend and I have promise rings for each other and plan on getting engaged soon. Do what you feel is right for you! Good luck 😊

Too young. Your brain isn't even fully developed till 25. Not saying waiting till then but I would wait a couple more years at least.

Wayyyyyy to young. If it is meant to be then you shouldn't rush it. Give yourselves some time to mature and grow up together and if by 25, things haven't changed - I'd say go for it!!!
