tattoo after d&c is it ok???

Hey everyone. I'm going for a d&c this Tuesday due to severe medical problems with my baby...I just wanted to know if it was ok to get a tattoo maybe a few weeks afterwards?? I want to get a memorial tattoo for my baby as we tried for a year and only got to make it to 15 weeks...

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd ask your OB just to make sure but honestly after having a D&C you don't feel the greatest for a few weeks so I'd give your body some time to heal, at least after my D&C I was physically miserable. I haven't gotten a tattoo to honor my baby I lost but I'm hoping to do that next year since I'm pregnant now.

I didn't have a d&c but I did have a miscarriage. After it was fully done and I felt better, I got a tattoo and everything went fine. You could always ask your doc at your appt just to be safe, but I'm guessing as long as you're healing and there are no issues, it would be ok

I would think its ok after a few weeks as long as you're not having any issues, specifically with bleeding. You may want to call the shop and ask the opinion of the artist - most of them are pretty knowledgeable and will err on the side of their client's safty.  You can and should also ask your OB.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss and I think it is beautiful you want to commemorate your baby's memory with a tattoo. I would recommend giving your body some time to heal before you do the tattoo. If your body is recovering from the D&C, when you get the tattoo it may not heal well or take a long time to heal. You could ask your OB too. My recommendation would be to wait a little while.
