Will pain meds be prescribed after c-section?

I have a planned c-section scheduled next month and plan to breastfed.. Will I be prescribed meds? Or will I be expected to take over the counter meds for pain? I live in Texas..
Thanks everyone.. I was on a morphine pump the first 7 hours and then prescribed Tylenol 3 and Hydrocoden to take home.

I took home a Percocet RX but honestly, pain meds constipate, so its best to take a little as you can stand. It's REALLY hard to poo after having a c section. I took ibuprofen most of the time afterwards.

I got Percocet's and some high dosage of Moltrin 😊 it totally did the trick! Although, by day 5 of my csec recovery I was already off the perc's and on moltrin only. You'll do fine!! 😊😊

When I had my daughter they prescribed Percocet and it was literally a life saver... except when I was stopping I had pretty bad withdraws and was really hard for my family to help me as i would wake up in the middle of the night screaming from livid nightmares... I had the shakes and would feel like shit ! I'm hoping this time they can give me something that will work good but without the withdraws 😬

I was offered perkiset or Motrin ... I just stuck with the Motrin , but had to ask for it every 6 hrs ... The hospital couldn't keep offering, I had to ask for it.

I took Tylenol and naproxen (aleeve) at the hospital and when I was back home for about a week. No harm to baby or my milk supply.

Yep! And take them!!! Don't try to be a hero and skip doses. You'll regret it. I had ibuprofen and a stronger one. Percocet, maybe? Can't remember that one exactly. But I made the mistake of thinking I felt better so I could miss a dose and spread them out further than recommended. I paid for it. So much pain! But in addition to the meds, you MUST WALK AROUND as soon as possible. Laying around will make recovery harder. You'll wean yourself off the strong one easier if you're proactive with your activity level. Good luck!

Yes. I got prescribed Ibuprofen, Paracetamol and Codeine. These don't affect the baby, although codeine could make him a bit more sleepy (I didn't notice any change in my baby). I went off meds after 5-6 days. Good luck with the section, I really had a great experience!
